Shapleigh Smith (Shap) is the North America Head for Citi’s Asset Based and Transitional Finance group within Citi’s Global Markets organization. Citi’s Global Markets provides world-class products and financing solutions for corporations, governments, and institutional and retail investors through its dominant underwriting, sales and trading, and distribution capabilities.

The Asset Based and Transitional Finance Group is responsible for originating, structuring and syndicating asset based loans and DIP Financings. The group also manages Citi’s large asset based loan portfolio. Recent ABL financings include Petco, PetSmart, Rite Aid, Del Monte and Albertson’s. On the restructuring side, the team has lead DIP and Exit Financings for Alpha Natural Resources, Verso, TXU, Cengage, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Patriot Coal and Kodak.
